The best beach volleyball players this year will fight on 15 and 16 July for the impressive "Saulkrasti cocktail" prize. "Saulkrasti cocktail" will be held for the 23rd time and the third time in a row the tournament will take place in Saulkrasti Sea Park (Saulkrastu Jūras parks) area. Guaranteed prize money EUR 7000, but the prize money will be increased with every world ranked player taking participation. This is guaranteed by "Saulkrasti cocktail" founder and organizer Andris Vanags.


As usually "Saulkrasti cocktail" in this year will be one of the Latvian Championship - "Ergo Open" - tour for mens pairs.


In the tournament of “Saulkrasti coctail” in previous years many European countries beach volleyball teams’ toked participation, tournament also was visited by the world tour participants Ben Saxton/Chaim Schalk (Canada). Last year outermost visitors Allister Lyne and Tālis Švarcs (Australia) participated in the Saulkrasti Sea Park tournament. Only once foreigners became champions of the "Saulkrastu cocktail. In 2001 Henrikas Cyvas / Tadas Donela (Lithuania) triumphed in “Saulkrasti cocktail” tournament.


"Saulkrasti cocktail" will be like a rehearsal for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Saulkrasti and Rio de Janeiro will be united by the best duet of Latvia Aleksandrs Samoilovs / Jānis Šmēdiņš. In 2013 Samoilovs / Šmēdiņš won third place in the sand of Saulkrasti, but Šmēdiņš became the owner of the trophy in 2006 and in 2008 with other partners. Saulkrasti will be glad to host both, players who won the Olympic tickets and duets, whose participation in this tournament could become one of the steps towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
