Its first and long-standing teacher was Pauls Štāls. A commemorative plaque was unveiled at the school’s main door in memory and honour of the great teacher. Sēja Primary School Museum was opened in 1992 with the goal of preserving the history of the school and the entire Sēja Municipality for future generations. The school’s Anniversary Park was started in 2002.

Construction of the school began in 1914 with funds donated by the inhabitants of the parish. Sēja school was consecrated on 26 November 1922. It was created by combining the Suliņas and Vēži schools.
